AMD CEO Predicts AI Chip Market Will Reach $1.4 Trillion by 2030

AMD CEO Lisa Su stated at the Advancing AI 2026 conference that the growth rate of the AI chip market has exceeded expectations. AMD had previously predicted that the market size would reach $500 billion by 2028, but Su believes this forecast is too conservative, estimating that the global AI chip market will grow to approximately $1.4 trillion by 2030, nearing the current size of the entire semiconductor market. She pointed out that better models will lead to more usage, driving a continuous increase in computing power demand. Although AI chips will take on various forms in the future, GPUs with stronger programmability are expected to continue to hold a significant share of the market due to the rapid changes in algorithms and workloads.
