Tecnópolis: A Giant of Entertainment Joins the Bid for the Concession of the Site

The race to secure the concession of Tecnópolis has entered its decisive phase and has added a new international heavyweight. The alliance led by Fénix Entertainment has officially incorporated AEG Worldwide (Anschutz Entertainment Group), one of the largest entertainment operators in the world, as well as CMN (Cárdenas Marketing Network), strengthening a proposal that aims to compete for the exploitation of the Villa Martelli site for the next 25 years.

With this addition, the bidding process called by the national government to grant the use and commercial exploitation of the park has become polarized between two major groups with a strong presence in the global entertainment industry. On one side is the consortium made up of Fénix Entertainment, AEG Worldwide, and CMN; on the other is the partnership formed by La Nación and Live Nation, another of the international giants in the live music business.

The bidding process, driven by the State Asset Administration Agency (AABE), aims to define the future of one of the most important sites in the country for mass events. The proposal is to transform Tecnópolis into a multipurpose complex capable of hosting international concerts, festivals, conferences, exhibitions, sporting events, corporate fairs, and audiovisual productions throughout the year.

The concession definition faces two alliances with experience in the development and exploitation of large venues for shows and events. The incorporation of AEG represents a significant backing for the initiative led by Fénix. The American group manages some of the most important stadiums, arenas, and entertainment centers, produces thousands of concerts annually, and owns top-level sports franchises, including the Los Angeles Kings of the NHL and the Los Angeles Galaxy of the MLS. Through its division AEG Presents, it also participates in organizing international tours for major artists in the music industry.

Additionally, CMN (Cárdenas Marketing Network), a company founded by entrepreneur Henry Cárdenas and specialized in live shows and multicultural marketing for the Latino market, with a strong presence in the United States and Latin America, has joined this structure. The addition of both players gives the project a distinctly international profile and strengthens the operational and commercial capacity of the consortium to compete in the final stage of the contest.

On the other side is the proposal presented by La Nación along with Live Nation, considered the largest concert promoter in the world. The American company has deepened its presence in Argentina in recent years by acquiring 51% of the Movistar Arena and a majority stake in Dale Play, the production company founded by Federico Lauria, thus strengthening its expansion strategy in the local market.

The competition between both groups reflects the growing appeal that the Villa Martelli site represents for the entertainment industry. Its strategic location within the Metropolitan Area of Buenos Aires, the available space, and the existing infrastructure make it one of the venues with the greatest potential for developing large-scale events.

The bidding process was authorized at the end of last year when the State Asset Administration Agency approved the call for bids through Resolution 98/2025, published in the Official Gazette. The measure enabled the granting of use and exploitation of a property belonging to the national government, currently under the jurisdiction of the National Culture Secretariat.

According to the conditions of the bidding document, the contract will last for 300 months, equivalent to 25 years, with the possibility of a single 12-month extension. The concession includes a site of approximately 509,760 square meters located in Villa Martelli.

The main objective will be the commercial development of the park focused on recreational, entertainment, and leisure activities. Additionally, the bidding document contemplates the realization of non-competitive sports proposals, cultural activities, workshops, community integration programs, games, and other initiatives compatible with that purpose.

With two alliances made up of some of the main players in the global entertainment industry, the definition of the Tecnópolis concession appears as one of the most relevant bids for the entertainment business in Argentina.
